Research Programs

Browse programs on qualifax.ie (the national learner database) or individual university websites. CAO handles undergraduate applications for domestic and EU students.

Apply to Universities

Non-EU students apply directly to university international offices. Most postgraduate intakes are September (some January). Apply 4–6 months in advance.

Language Requirements

IELTS 6.0–6.5 for most programs (6.5–7.0 for competitive programs). Universities may also accept Duolingo or PTE.

Receive Offer

Receive conditional or unconditional offer. Pay deposit to secure your place. Final offer letter issued after submitting final results.

Apply for Irish Student Visa

Apply online via the Irish Immigration Service (AVATS system). Pay €60 visa fee. Submit admission letter, proof of funds (€10,000+/year), accommodation, health insurance.

Undergraduate: €10,000–€25,000/year. Postgraduate: €10,000–€30,000/year. Technological Universities and Institutes: generally €8,000–€15,000/year.

International students can work 20 hours/week during term and 40 hours/week during summer holidays (June to September). Minimum wage: €13.50/hour.
